The aims and objectives of education at ST. CHAVARA SCHOOL are inspired by the
vision drawn from the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. It is also based on the life and writings
of St. Kuriakose Elias Chavara our founder and patron saint. Being a CMI educational institution St.
Chavara School aims at the integral formation of the human person with respect to his/ her
individual and social responsibilities in the society.
It also aims at preparing children who are intellectually competent, spiritually
oriented, morally upright, psychologically integrated, physically healthy, socially mature,
emotionally balanced, noble in behaviour and who will champion the cause of justice, love, truth and
peace and are ever open to further growth and development.
Our History
Saint Chavara School, Shahpur is an unaided English Medium Christian Minority Co-Educational Institution administered by St. John's Province of the Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI) congregation, established on 16th April 2018.
Saint Kuriakose Elias Chavara a great educationist of the 19th century and the founder of the religious congregation, Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI) is our source of inspiration. He took the lead to make school education more popular and available to all sections of the people in South India. He emphasized that all children of God have an inalienable right to education. He is our inspiration and the guiding light in starting St. Chavara School in Shahpur, Distt. Muzaffarnagar (U.P.), India.
Carmelites of Mary Immaculate congregation is founded by St. Kuriakose Elias Chavara at Mannanam in Kerala on 8th December 1855. St. Kuriakose Elias Chavara was born on 10 February 1805. He contributed greatly to the development of education in the contemporary society by starting two congregation namely: Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI) and Congregation of Mother of Carmel (CMC) to promote education. When he was the Vicar General of the Vicariate of Verapoly he directed that every church should start a school attached to it. He encouraged children of all section to attend school and started incentives like mid-day meals, supply of school dress to popularize education. St. Kuriakose Elias Chavara died on 3rd January 1861. Today CMI and CMC congregations run 938 educational institutions of all hues ranging from Pre-primary School to Deemed University in India and abroad.
St. Chavara School is open to all students irrespective of caste and creed. They are accepted and cherished as they are and are helped to grow in their cultural, social and religious milieu. We reach out to the families, primarily of the students, to assist them in their needs, to share in their joys and sorrows, and to help them experience love and freedom so that the students realize that our educational institutions are an extension of their homes.
The Pre-Primary wing of the school is named St. Thomas Kindergarten. Pre-Primary is a Three years course with Nursery, Lower Kindergarten and Upper Kindergarten class. Age for admission in Nursery is 3 years. A student who passes from UKG has to take fresh admission to join Class 1.
St. Chavara School is recognized by Uttar Pradesh Government (MZN-B 08/2018).
